*Hyperkeratosis is the thickening of the stratum corneum, which can lead to clogged skin pores and is often associated with abnormalities in keratin production.
**5α-reductase is an enzyme that converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in sebaceous glands and hair follicles. DHT is a potent androgen responsible for acne and excessive sebum production.
